New York School, IO Who?
Elinor Nauen Tells All (well, some…)
Thanks to the encouragement of dear friend and poet Terence Winch, as well as Best American Poetry Editor and poet David Lehman, I’m presently writing a series of monthly posts for the Best American Poetry blog. The topic —“NYSP (New York School of Poetry) :: IOU” — takes a fresh look at the impact New York School poets have made on contemporary poetics 75 years later.
I’ll be chatting with poets of note, both here in the US and globally, to gather their insights as they each share a poem that reflects an NYSP influence. The series kicked off last month with the terrific Elinor Nauen, who’s been at the center of NYC’s East Village poetry action since 1976.
Stay tuned for July, mes amis.
